Enjoy and achieve

Arthur Bugler Infants prides itself on the happiness and success of its pupils. The atmosphere within the school is one where the children feel confident, motivated, and can express themselves without fear.

The range of clubs offered to the children is vast, and this mirrors the attitude and commitment of the staff who take pride and pleasure in working with the children in a range of sport, art, ICT and music based extra-curricular activities to name but a few; watching their confidence levels and enjoyment rise in a relaxed and pressure free environment.

The ethos of the school states that it is important for the children to have fun whilst learning, but we strongly feel that does not detract from the fact that this learning environment is proving to have a hugely positive impact on the academic progress and achievements of our pupils.

Each child is aware of what they need to personally achieve within every lesson, through our consistent use of success criteria, target setting, and self-assessment.  The children's targets have been shared with parents and carers, so that we can all work together to help the children achieve and make progress.

The school has recently adopted the Pie Corbett approach to teaching literacy which is proving to expand creativity and ideas through drama, games and ‘action-association’ in storytelling.

Celebration assemblies acknowledge the achievements of pupils both in and outside of schools, and are always joyful and looked forward to occasions.

Within the local authority the school is seen as one which can be trusted to deliver. The pupils and staff here are highly regarded beyond the school boundaries and our achievements both academic and extra-curricular are widely recognised, thus building a reputation of success we are very proud of.
